Mid-Atlantic Region of Laborers’ International Union of North American (LIUNA) Endorses Aaron Rouse for Lieutenant Governor

LIUNA’s mid-Atlantic chapter represents 40,000 workers in the construction industry, underscoring Rouse’s commitment to fighting for Virginia’s working families

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA – The Virginia affiliates of the Laborers’ International Union of North America (LIUNA) unanimously announced their endorsement of Aaron Rouse for Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Rouse’s endorsement comes as LIUNA recognizes “Construction Safety Week”, underscoring the importance of electing leaders who prioritize the wellbeing of Virginia’s workforce.

“I’m proud to have the support of LIUNA, whose members help build Virginia from the ground up,” said Senator Aaron Rouse. “As Lieutenant Governor, I’ll fight every day for working families, good jobs, and a stronger middle class. Together, we’ll keep moving Virginia forward and ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

“From the football field to the General Assembly, Aaron Rouse has proven that he is a fighter,” said Dennis L. Martire, LIUNA Vice President and Mid-Atlantic Regional Manager. “Aaron has proven that he will fight for Virginia’s working families, and it is that determination that will bring more workers into the middle class.”

“Aaron Rouse is a leader who gets things done,” said Ryan N. Boyer, Business Manager of the Philadelphia/Baltimore/Washington Laborers’ District Council. “His vision for economic opportunity, workforce development and labor standards demonstrate his commitment to lift up Virginia’s working men and women.”

“As a State Senator, Aaron Rouse has been driven to build the middle class and create opportunities for working Virginians to thrive,” said Jessie King, Business Manager of the West Virginia and Appalachian Laborers’ District Council. “His leadership as Lieutenant Governor will ensure that Virginia’s workforce continues to advance.”

“Throughout his public service career, Aaron Rouse has been a strong ally for Virginia’s workforce by pushing for increases in the minimum wage and helping city workers organize for better pay and benefits,” said Ernest Ojito, LIUNA Local 202R Business Manager. “We know that we can count on Aaron to fight back against policies that undermine the rights of working people like when his vote this session helped stop Virginia’s anti-worker, so-called Right to Work law that leads to lower wages and lower safety standards from making it into Virginia’s constitution.”
