Aaron Rouse grew up in Hampton Roads, raised by his incredible single mom. He started working at 10 years old to help support his mom and siblings, including mowing lawns, pumping gas, and cleaning buses. Aaron’s grit and determination took him to Virginia Tech on a full scholarship – the first in his family to graduate from college – and in 2007, he was drafted by the Green Bay Packers and also played for the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals.
After a career in the NFL, Aaron came back home to Virginia Beach to give back to the community that raised him, starting a nonprofit for kids growing up like he did. In 2018, Aaron was elected to the Virginia Beach City Council, representing nearly 500,000 Virginians. As a leader in Virginia’s largest city, he passed a balanced budget while cutting the local car tax, raising the minimum wage, and providing tax relief for seniors and small businesses.
Aaron always leads the fight on what matters most. In the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned, Aaron stepped up to take on Glenn Youngkin’s hand-picked candidate for State Senate, flipping a red seat to blue, and becoming the deciding vote to protect abortion rights in Virginia.
Aaron has stood up to Donald Trump time and again, including getting a new law signed this year to protect federal workers and contractors from Trump and Musk’s chaos.
During his two terms in the Senate, Aaron has delivered, including writing and passing laws to cut taxes for seniors and protect them from financial abuse and exploitation, and putting more money back in people’s pockets with a refundable earned income tax credit. s. With Donald Trump creating chaos in Washington and getting nothing done, Aaron is fighting to pass bills to lower the cost of prescription drugs, cut taxes, and protect federal workers who are the lifeblood of the Virginia economy.
As Lieutenant Governor, Aaron will bring new priorities and new leadership to Virginia, working to deliver on what matters most to Virginians right now – making housing more affordable, tax relief for seniors and families, reducing healthcare costs, and investing in our kids’ education. That’s why key Democratic leaders from every corner of the Commonwealth are backing him for Lieutenant Governor – because it’s going to take an effective leader to protect the Commonwealth from an extremist agenda coming out of Washington and deliver for Virginians.
Together, we’ll win this campaign and build a Virginia that works for everyone.
