A Virginia Beach city councilman said he’s ready to make the move from City Hall to the General Assembly.
Aaron Rouse announced Monday that he’d be running for a seat in the Virginia Senate. He’s aiming to represent the newly-drawn 22nd District.
Rouse, a former NFL player, has served on the Virginia Beach City Council since 2018.

Aaron R. Rouse is a Democrat representing Virginia’s 22nd District in the Senate. Aaron lives in Virginia Beach with his wife, Virginia Beach Councilwoman Jennifer Rouse, and his two children. Aaron is also the founder of Rouse’s House, a nonprofit that provides resources for low-income students in Hampton Roads public schools. Senator Rouse is running to be the Democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor of Virginia.
